Job Description
The typical field day is spent in the great outdoors from the Upper
Kissimmee Chain of Lakes to the Everglades. This position is part
of the SCADA field support team which is responsible for delivering
and administering state-of-the-art telemetric systems across all or
part of 16 counties in Florida. The team designs and builds
installs, delivers and supports installations, in addition to,
overseeing and maintaining the District's telemetry systems and
technologies, which directly supports the success of the District's
strategic programs.
The selected candidate will need a solid working knowledge of
technologies and practices for multi-million-dollar SCADA telemetry
projects and contracts ranging from water control systems to
hydrologic and meteorological monitoring installations that require
equipment for data measurement, testing and transmission. The
ability to transfer skills and knowledge to new products and
technologies is a characteristic of this position; therefore, an
in-depth background in electronic theory and field applications is
expected.
This position works independently and/or within a team under
moderate supervision that includes instructions on specific
assignments, objective and complex features. The SCADA Project
Engineering - Staff will perform Project Management from start to
finish including recons, assessments, define scope, write Statement
of Work, interact with district vendors and procurement, evaluate
quotes, create schedules, perform inspections, provide inspection
reports, oversee field personnel and operations, and test the
functionality of systems and instruments. This includes the ability
to apply standards and plans; resolve and trouble-shoot issues and
prepare technical documentation. Work includes identification and
resolution of issues, in addition to using discipline knowledge
base for recommending adaptations and modifications.
Work will be reviewed for technical competence, accuracy and
adherence to instructions provided in standard operating
procedures.
Work hours are Monday - Thursday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, off on
Friday. and reports to the Field Operations Center.
This position may be filled at a lower level referenced below.
SCADA Project Engineering: This position works independently and/or
within a team under direct supervision that includes instructions
on specific assignments, objectives and simple features. The SCADA
Project Engineering position assists with assessments of
functionality, integration, and reporting capability of current
technologies, identification of instruments, and project
management. This includes the ability to apply standard and
conventional evaluation plans. Work includes identification and
resolution of issues and preparing technical documentation.
Employment Guidelines:
SCADA Project Engineering-Staff: Bachelor's Degree in related field
and 2+ years' experience. Equivalent combination of relevant
education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Disciplines for related education and experience requirements
include but are not limited to: Electronics, Electronic Technology
and Electrical Engineering.

less than 2 years' experience. Equivalent combination of relevant
education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver's License (Class E) required. Based
on business needs, a Florida Class A Commercial Driver's license
may be required. Ability to obtain certification in CPR and First
Aid.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of
emergency management, this position may at times, be required to
provide support before, during and after major storm events and
emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared
emergencies.
This position will, at times, be required to be On-Call after
regular work hours, weekends, and holidays.
Some of the work is field related in remote areas with heavy
vegetation, under hot or cold, humid, wet conditions. Additional
physical requirements/working conditions include:
