JOB INFORMATION



The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of the Honors College and is responsible for curriculum, undergraduate research, student programming, and university and external partnerships.

Curriculum and Academic Programs

* Prepare the academic course calendar

* Review new course proposals

* Conduct course reviews in collaboration with faculty and staff

* Coordinate and review Honors College faculty evaluations

* Chair faculty meetings (General, IDH 1931, First Year Seminar, Upper Division sectionals)

* Assure Honors College compliance with university rules, regulations, and requirements

Undergraduate Research

* Oversee of the Advanced Research and Creativity in Honors program

* Work with university and external undergraduate research programs to promote opportunities for Honors College students

* Help coordinate university-wide undergraduate research opportunities

Student Programs

* Supervise Student Programs including colloquia, guest lectures, student clubs and organizations, volunteer opportunities, and other special events and co-curricular activities

Global Honors (Study Abroad & HEARTS)

* Supervise Study Abroad and Cultural Programs

University Academic Partnerships

* Work with other units to help coordinate the creation of new courses

* Work with other units to assure timely completion of Honors College students in their programs and majors

* Create and oversee FIU graduate pipeline and early assurance programs

* Participate in university-wide committees and projects as assigned
