We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic individual who will enhance our established team of Consultants. You will take part in the outpatient and day case workload of the department and play a vital role in the delivery of healthcare for Children and Young People across North Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We are looking for a colleague who is driven, enthusiastic and adaptable to join our team. Being a flexible team-player is essential.Main duties of the jobThe team delivers a comprehensive secondary and tertiary allergy services across the portfolio of atopic disease including food allergy, aeroallergens and immunotherapy, some oral immunotherapy, drug and venom allergy. - Full and specialist registration in either AIM or GIM with the General Medical Council (GMC) or
- Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview *Locum candidates do not need specialist registration
- Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent
- RCPCH SPIN module in allergy or equivalent experienceExperience
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in paediatrics and paediatric allergy and associated atopic disciplines
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
- Evidence of a special interest in paediatric allergy, and
expertise that complements those of other consultants in the
department and is consistent with the Trust's service
strategyClinical Knowledge and Skills
- Up to date knowledge and experience of paediatric allergy and safeguarding children and young people
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
- Skills in acute paediatric allergy assessment and management, eg. anaphylaxis, and independent delivery of allergy outpatient clinics
- Broad range of IT skillsClinical Governance and Audit
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
